This is one of several palettes I purchased recently. I allowed myself one month to play with the shadows before making this review. The outer packaging and six smaller shadows are what drew me to this palette. I rarely use the highlight colors in palettes unless they’re darker and have stronger yellow tones than these.

The Highlight Shades

Rock Candy from the Sweet & Spicy row is a yellowish beige micro-glitter shadow, yet it appears as stark matte white on my skin. The shimmer shade called Strawberry Ice from the Sugar Plums row is a cross between light pink and lilac. It is the least pigmented of the three but is still a nice shadow that looks better on me than Rock Candy. Peach fuzz is part of the Candy Coated section and is a peach colored micro-glitter eyeshadow.

Sweet & Spicy

Macaron reminds me of my Peach Bellini ModelCo blush because of the orange tones and gold shimmer.

This shadow is not very pigmented, so I spent extra time building the color on the swatch. As I continued to apply more, the color became uneven as clearly some parts were way more gold than others. It takes a great deal of time to make it as vibrantly orange on my eyelids as it looked in the pan.

As for Malted Milk Ball, it is a gorgeous bronze shimmer shade which is too close to my skin tone to make an impact on an overall look. It is still one of the shadows I believe would look nice on anyone lighter than me and also if you have a darker skintone.

This look is my least favorite of the suggested color combinations. I think it is not meant for someone of my complexion, but I can say that Malted Milk Ball and Macaron complement each other when blended together.

Sugar Plums

Sugared Violet has blue glitter in it which makes the blue tones really pop in this purple shade. It surprised me that this became my favorite eyeshadow in the palette!

Blackberry was disappointing because it blends away so easily. The only way to have the purple tones show through, rather than just a dark residue, is to pack on the color and barely blend. It is especially disappointing as the only matte and only shade I would want on the outer V.

Candy Coated

Besides MMB, these two are the truest to color.

Bubblegum is a very bright pink which stands out on its own but easily changes its shade when in contact with another color.

Blue Raspberry is a pigmented bright blue which makes quite a statement. I did not think this combination would work for me, but I was pleasantly surprised!

Blending Bubblegum into the crease made that area instantly turn purple. The faint pink tinge is where I spent a long time applying slightly above the crease so it would show more than just purple when I opened my eyes.

My Take

After trying the suggested looks, I decided to choose my own combination. To start, I used macaron above the crease because it is lighter than my skin tone but not as drastic as the three highlight shades. I also layered Malted Milk Ball on top of that but closer to the crease to add additional sparkle and make it intentionally less orange.

I used Blackberry in the crease, although you can barely see it, and Sugared Violet all over the lid and the lower lash line.

Overall, these shadows need a good primer underneath them. They’re soft and pretty but I would not recommend buying this palette at full price. I will continue to use Sugar Pop and make it work for me. It just requires extra effort.
